  • CONTENT Technician – F/T P/T $24-27/ hour

    The COMPANY:

    First Response – DKI is a locally owned, well-established, disaster restoration company servicing BC’s Sunshine Coast for over 25 years.     The POSITION:

    The Content Technician is a M-F, 8:30-4:30 (F/T or P/T negotiable) in-person role in Gibsons, BC with optional on-call opportunities. Content Technicians play a key roll in providing exceptional service delivery to our customers by assisting with assessment and restoration of contents damaged by water, fire, smoke, mold or other factors. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone experienced in the moving or janitorial industries, who enjoys a combination of physical site work with in-house processing, and who can adjust well to changing tasks and environments.

    Though some experience is required, ongoing training and mentorship is also provided. We supply all PPE, tools, and equipment necessary to do your work, company vehicles for daily transportation to and from our shop in Gibsons to various work sites.

    THE WORK & Responsibilities: includes (but is not limited to):

    • Listing and documentation of contents

    • Cleaning, packing, delivery, storage, and/or restoration of client content

    • Processing and cleaning of contents via laundering, ultrasonic, steam, and hand cleaning

    • Assist in photographing and inventory of damaged contents

    • Coordinate with management, field staff, vendors, and clients for scheduling and quality control

    • On-site residential and commercial structural cleaning

    • Organize and maintain contents and cleaning areas

    • General shop labour

    • Biohazard & hazardous materials clean up, removal and containment

    • Provide post-remediation/construction cleaning to prepare properties for occupancy

    Our Ideal candidate:

    • Must reside on the Sunshine Coast, BC or have concrete plans to relocate by start date

    • Must have a valid BC Divers License

    • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

    • Must be able to perform physical work and lift moderately heavy objects

    • Must be comfortable wearing PPE- including masks when necessary

    • Must be punctual, reliable, and presentable

    • IICRC Certifications considered an asset

    • Willingness and ability to occasionally work in compromised environments (eg. Mould, smoke, water etc.)

    • Construction, Restoration, or Insurance experience preferred

    • Fluent written and spoken English

    • Basic computer skills

    • Strong communication and common-sense problem solving abilities

    • Ability to work within a team or independently as needed

    • Willing to work occasional evening, weekend, or on-call

  • Water Restoration Technician – F/T P/T $26-29/ hour

We pride ourselves on the highest quality standards in restoration and reconstruction and strive to serve the community with the highest level of service, skill, and equipment. Our community is growing and the demand for our services is consistently increasing, so we are expanding our team!

    The POSITION:

    The Water Restoration Technician is a M-F, 8:30-4:30 (F/T or P/T) in-person role in Gibsons, BC with optional, bonus on-call opportunities. Our Water Restoration Technicians are critical to our operations and take the lead in stabilizing and remediating property damage caused by water (or occasionally other factors) and restoring our customers’ homes back to pre-disaster state. Work is performed in teams and frequently changing sites throughout the Sunshine Coast. Past industry experience in trades, janitorial, demolition, or plumbing will all transfer well to this roll. This role is heavily suited to someone with excellent time management, organization, and leadership skills, who is competent, thorough, and empathetic.

    Though some experience is required, ongoing training and mentorship is also provided. We supply all PPE, tools, and equipment necessary to do your work, company vehicles for daily transportation to and from our shop in Gibsons and to various work sites.

    THE WORK:

    • Perform emergency flood services- water extraction, demolition, drying, and abatement

    • General tear out demolition of building materials (flooring, drywall, etc.)

    • Set up/ monitoring/ take down of drying equipment

    • Specialized cleaning and rebuilding projects both on-site and in our shop

    • Occasional general shop labour

    • Document work performed accurately using industry software- training provided

    THE REQUIREMENTS:

    • Must reside on the Sunshine Coast, BC or have concrete plans to relocate by start date.

    • Must have a valid BC Divers License

    • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

    • Must be able to perform physical work and lift heavy objects

    • Must be comfortable wearing PPE- including masks / respirators when necessary

    • Construction, Restoration, or Insurance experience required

    • Preference will be given to persons with their IICRC Water Restoration Certification

    • Forklift Certification considered an asset

    • Ability to enter attics & crawlspaces

    • General knowledge and experience using basic hand tools

    • Basic knowledge of construction and building materials

    • Fluent written and spoken English

    • Basic computer skills

    • Strong communication and common-sense problem solving abilities

    • Ability to both follow specific directions and determine when to seek additional direction

    • Ability to work within a team or independently as needed

    • Willing to work occasional evening, weekend, or on-call
